If you are interested in purchasing a device such as the ATN Night Vision
Monocular that will enable you to see at night, then you have to see to it that you know how it works. The device that you want to purchase is called a night vision device.

Night vision monoculars are commonly found in the forms of goggles, a monocular or a scope, and binoculars. The most common of these three are the monoculars and the binoculars. For this article, we will only be talking about the monocular.

The primary objective why these devices are made is to make you able to see during night or when in dark places. Night vision (NV) devices are made with a low magnification of 4x.

The ATN Night Vision Monocular and other assisted instruments such as this, utilizes the light available during night time or in dark places. These devices have electro-optical devices that make the said devices possible in utilizing the available light. The electro-optical devices amplify the light with a special tube to make the user see in dark areas.

he reason you are able to see with night vision seeing devices is that it has to have an infrared illuminator. Infrared is the extra light provided by the device. This extra light is the backup light when the available light is not sufficient enough to brighten the image. The infrared illuminator will cast an invisible ray towards the object that you are focusing and, in this way, you can see them without them seeing you. Unless, of course, they have an instrument like this on you!

The green screen that you can see is called a phosphor screen. This screen is where the image is being amplified to. It has a green color because the human eye can distinguish a green color more than other colors. In instruments such as these, you will never see an image which is in different colors. Phosphor screens last for 1500 to 2500 hours.

Devices like these are never perfect. Some NV devices have black spots on the image areas. These are blemishes on the intensifier tubes. The prices of night vision devices are lower when the black spots are bigger.
